In the wild science fiction world of Atomic Heart, a massive cube has appeared in the sky, laying the foundation for, well, The Cube, a multiplayer shooter game coming from Mungfish onto PC and consoles, premiered at Summer Game Fest.
From the descriptions given so far on the official Steam page, it appears to be something like an extraction shooter, with an open, explorable world. Players are tasked with going on expeditions to explore the new giant titular tube that’s appeared in the sky, with even unsuccessful missions saving progress for players to tap into.
The description promises not only multiplayer action, but also “unique world-building, an intriguing narrative, and exciting quests.” It also appears there’ll not only be the dangers of an ever-changing setting that makes its own wildlife and worlds, but enemy factions looking to get ahold of the same tools and knowledge (maybe even player clans?).
The trailer states that The Cube is slated for a 2026 release.
