Albion Online’s PvP-Focused Next Update, Abyssal Depths, is Coming June 30th

Albion Online’s PvP-focused next update, Abyssal Depths, is coming June 30th. The team is shifting focus to address two goals: To offer more direction for new players and a smoother on-ramp into PVP, while improving PvP overall, and offering new options.

The announcement came with a new Dev Talk video with new Game Director Moritz Bokelmann. The team is shifting focus to address two goals: To offer more direction for new players and a smoother on-ramp into PVP, while improving PvP overall, and offering new options.
Their two goals stem from where players tend to drop off in Albion, namely after the tutorial, when they are left to their own devices in an open sandbox and by remaining in safer areas.

Abyssal Depths focuses on instanced PVP because they wanted to be more of a bridge between those safer zones and the more dangerous and rewarding areas out further in the open world. Instances  are predictable and replayable, and you’re not going to risk your gear while you are learning combat and your build.
The new dungeon type is designed for 2-3 players, with danger in the form of monsters and other players. You’re all in a collapsing dungeon with technical objectives and decisions to make (and loot to earn) in a high-stakes, fast-paced instance. Antiquarian’s Dens offer access to this dungeon type as well as Corrupted Dungeons and Hellgates.
Albion Online’s new player experience will get an overhaul, including structured post-tutorial tasks integrated into the Albion Journal.
The update will add more Crystal Weapons, a reworked learning point system, overhauled marketplace categorization, and an improved combined HUD tracker.
