The Second Volume Of Final Fantasy 14’s Viral Cookbook Is Now Up For Pre-Order

After the first volume became a massive hit among Final Fantasy XIV fans, Square Enix has put up for pre-order the second volume of The Ultimate Final Fantasy XIV Cookbook. This volume is once again spearheaded by Victoria Rosenthal, well beloved in gaming for her smash-hit gaming-themed cookbooks for Fallout, Destiny, Halo, and Sonic: The Hedgehog, among others.

The store description teases the first few FFXIV-themed recipes out of over 70 to be included, including “Alpine Breakfast,” “Tacos de Carne Asada” and “the Pudding of Perseverance & Prominence.” There’ll be a foreword from Naoki Yoshida, as well as the return of in-game lore throughout the cookbook.
According to the Square Enix Store’s page, this second volume of the cookbook brings “an even deeper journey into the culinary delights centered around critically acclaimed expansions, Shadowbringers, Endwalker and Dawntrail.” Admittedly, Shadowbringers and Endwalker don’t bring severe amounts of immediately obvious cultural flair, though maybe the burger that featured in an Endwalker cutscene or two could make an appearance, as can whatever the hell kind of “pizza” from Garlemald requires mint in its recipe.
However, Dawntrail absolutely leaves a lot of room for inspiration, with the Turali regions being inspired by the Americas (and we already saw a taco recipe mentioned).
Also, regarding Shadowbringers, the original Ultimate Final Fnatasy XIV Cookbook already had the infamous Crystarium coffee biscuits—which, in-game, players used to grind infinitely for hours for easy gil due to its ease of mass-farming materials. Still, I’m looking forward to whatever else from the First they’re whipping up.
If you want 192 pages of beautiful food photography, food lore, and solid, approachable recipes on some really nice paper stock (as I can attest from the first book), the cookbook is up on the Square Enix Store now, slated for an October release.
In the meantime, if you want to look up from your Occult Crescent grind, we’re getting a look at Patch 7.3 pretty soon.
