Star Citizen’s Patch Watch For Upcoming Alpha 4.2.0 Outlines Improvements For Missiles And Refinement

Star Citizen is continuing its path into the 4.0 series of patches, this time with Alpha 4.2 coming up. While much of what’s coming in the next major patch is in the roadmap already, the Patch Watch series serves to talk about more minor details that are important to know.

For those who’re into mining, especially with the ATLS tools, you’re getting a much-desired shortcut. Now, power suits can be directly brought to you in your Freight Elevators in any hangar, meaning you can manage your power suit without summoning your whole ship, keep different suits on different elevators, and even put them onto your cargo grid before you leave. Refining times are shorter.
There’s also a much closer fine-tuning of missile mechanics in this update, as the tracking is much better across several metrics. Plus, missiles, torpedoes, and similar bombs will explode when they’re fully distorted, meaning EMP fields and distortion-based weapons can trigger them for a new layer of gameplay strategy.
Plus, radiation widgets are getting a fresh UI update in FPS gameplay so you know exactly how cooked you are, though the numbers aren’t exactly clarified yet.
Right now, 4.2.0 is being run and iterated by the smaller private test groups such as the Evocati, but it’s looking to see a more widespread release soon. Also, they’re running an all-medium art contest for Pride Month with ten winners, if that’s your cup of tea.
