Square Enix has shared new artwork of Final Fantasy IX protagonists Zidane, Garnet, Vivi, and Steiner to further commemorate the 25th anniversary of this mainline entry in the Final Fantasy series. This has also included updated character biographies, which more or less provide a brief summary without any major spoilers.
While Square Enix hasn’t renounced a remake or remaster for Final Fantasy IX, it has certainly released more than a handful of merchandise celebrating the anniversary of the game. This has included a Final Fantasy IX vinyl, featuring the new artwork of the aforementioned characters, a replica of Garnet’s necklace, Vivi’s hat, along with purses, plush toys, and figures.
Final Fantasy IX characters and references to the game have appeared in other titles. This has included Kuja and Zidane in the Dissidia series, and minions of Garnet and Zidane in Final Fantasy XIV. Final Fantasy XIV players can obtain the Garnet minion by purchasing the Dawntrail Collector’s Edition if they want to get their hands on it.
