Path of Exile 2 is shaking things up in their continued effort to make more satisfying, they are now addressing chase Uniques, making drops less impossible, and previewing new items.
Grinding Gear Games laid out changes in a new devblog, Saying that they usually classify Mythic uniques as intended to be chase uniques, but they were too rare to really get that momentum.
Part of the issue was PoE 1 has more uniques, which isn’t surprising given its longevity. The second was more of a mechanics issue: “in PoE2, when you roll for uniques, the game first rolls what Item Class the unique will come from,” which makes certain items much more likely to drop than others and some almost like they don’t even exist because they are so rare. Mythic amulet Astramentis was 47,000 times rarer than a divine orb.
So, they’re fixing this by removing the item class from the role equation. Additionally, as maps get more rarity, common uniques will become less common drops over time. This means Uncommon, Rare, and Mythic get more of a chance to drop. They’re also buffing the number of Mythic uniques.
They also preview several of the new Mythic uniques, like the Lioneye’s Glare bow, The Last Lament crossbow, and The Whispering Ice staff, in addition to the endgame quiver, Cadiro’s Gambit.
