Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen Lays Out Itemization Goals and Changes Coming

Visionary Realms has announced some Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen itemization changes on the way. Changes will start rolling out in the next patch and it will be an ongoing process as the team works towards “the unified vision of the game”.

In a new devblog, the team lays out their goals. They’re clear to note they’re trying to refine it before 1.0 launch.
Their first goal? To refine item distribution in a way that supports characters’ power and progression (and gives a reason to continue adventuring and taking risks) but also make sure that every class or archetype is well served by the items available. More content will continue coming online and broaden what’s available within different level ranges, so they’re asking us to stay tuned.
In working to combat stat inflation, most gear bonuses are in armor slots. Accessory slots are where you’ll find resistances, non-stat bonuses, and ratings.
To go along with this, stat variety and soft specs will allow for greater customization and horizontal progression. This also depends on more content becoming available over time and will open up the number of items available, especially ones with different stat focuses. “The total number of stats on items will be rising in general, but will also be more spread out,” they say, and with more abilties, more diverse layouts become available.
Finally, they want to make resists more meaningful, and as another method of horizontal progression. Expect trade-offs, like a piece with strong resistance to fire but a small penalty to nature resistance. It introduces strategic decisions to be made and depth,  whether that’s to your build decisions or to the gear chase.
