Palia’s big Elderwood expansion is coming tomorrow. Downtime has already begun and will last until the expansion goes live tomorrow morning (PT). The team has shared full details on the update, as well as an effort to broaden and improve the shop (and the first free pet ever).
Downtime is set to end at 10:00 a.m. Pacific time tomorrow, and when the expansion goes live, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles will join the existing platforms. Elderwood adds an entirely new map, the first new Adventure Zone since launch. There’s a new chapter of the main story to play through, new content for every skill, new systems, a new villager, new creatures, plushies, as well as new bugs, new fish, new crops, and new recipes.
The expansion adds Infected essence, a mysterious magical essence relevant to the new main story. Collect and use it to craft new infected items.

They also promised the biggest decor release ever, the introduction of Courier pets, And a number of updates to the world, including existing villagers talking about the new content and much more.
The Palia team is also introducing some updates to the shop, what they’re calling an “experiment in gameplay-oriented purchases”. This has to do with the introduction of Courier pets, pets that can clear a few backpack slots by taking stuff back to your storage with no trips required. You can unlock four slots with the Founders pack and four slots through a questline in a future patch. The questline will unlock the Courier pet feature in a way that is totally free and include a free pet.
