Once Human’s The Way of Winter Scenario Gets Foreboding Climate Changes and Thermal Tower Adjustments

The Once Human team is continuing to make quality-of-life changes to its scenarios, this time affecting The Way of Winter scenario map. The changes outlined by Starry Studio, coming in the June 5 update, will make the extreme game-changing conditions more manageable—if foreboding.

A big change for all players is how the extreme weather is implemented. Instead of extreme weather simply belonging to one region at the start, these conditions will bring not only extreme temperature, but “special regional effects that bring different survival challenges.” Further, instead of staying limited to one spot, these effects risk spreading beyond their initial zone—but players can prevent this.
To stop these extreme conditions from wreaking further havoc, there’ll be a new large public item called the Chaosium Hub that’ll “reduce the level of extreme weather in an area.” These public buildings can use Raw Chaosium to give regional buffs to help your chances of survival.
The other way to stop these effects is to summon the Chaosweaver; doing so will entirely dispel the effects from the region.
Speaking of managing the weather, now Thermal Towers will be an estate building. This allows players to manage permissions so it’s not tampered with, and not just take a ton of space in the woods, both massive concerns for those in this scenario.
The Way of Winter will be one of the new maps available when the rented community servers go live, including for the early access phase on June 5.
