Once Human continues its steady drip of content updates, and now it seems like they’re planning on bringing two major game modes in. With the next update on May 22, Once Human will start Early Access for two new maps, one each for PvP and PvE.
The PvE map will feature phases and endings that shorten and change as players wipe out the objectives, with battle modifiers affecting gameplay. Meanwhile, the hardcore PvP mode is truly hardcore—and will leave you at risk, even after you log off.
New PvE Map — Endless Dream
“Endless Dream” is the new PvE Scenario that’ll be introduced with this update. The premise of Endless Dream is straightforward for now: “If the apocalypse descends in a dream, would you be prepared to face it?”
It seems the “dreams” are referencing new Dream Zones, a scenario-unique area that players can explore—and are charged with “purifying.” However, as players go further into these areas, the environmental traits and combat effects present zone-wide will intensify until the players completely
Plus, in this Scenario, there’ll be different endings depending on how well players do in purging the Dream Zones. The “Phases” present throughout these Scenarios will also shorten based on this progress, so it seems like they’re encouraging players to band together to wipe the looming threat.
New Hardcore PvP Map — Once Human: RaidZone
The new PvP mode is, in fact, a hardcore experience where everyone starts on the same footing. “Once Human: RaidZone provides an unrestricted PvP survival experience in an open world. In the wild, everyone is both hunter and prey,” Starry Studio explains. “It’s the survival of the fittest.”
In this particular PvP mode, everything is fair game—even when you’re logged out. All players’ construction is destructible, and, more dangerously yet, characters will be left in the world and vulnerable even when they’re logged off. The blog highly encourages teamwork, as friendly fire and construction destruction will be turned off for members of a Hive or team.
According to the devs, RaidZone will start as an Early Access title not because it’s particularly “incomplete,” but because they want players to help “refine game balance and overall enjoyment.” More details about it are available in the specialized PvP blog.
