Dune: Awakening Will Support Rentable Private Servers

Dune: Awakening Will Support Rentable Private Servers

Developer for Dune: Awakening, Funcom, announced that the survival-focused MMORPG will support rentable private servers. A total of three providers will be available for players that wish to use the service, with Funcom detailing certain restrictions to said servers in order to maintain the core mechanics of Dune: Awakening.

Similar to Funcom’s other MMORPG, Conan Exiles, there will be some limitations as to the control players will have over their Dune: Awakening private servers. For example, a private server in Dune: Awakening will be tied to a “World,” connected to other private servers. This will allow for players to still have access to social hubs and the chance to meet other players from a private server connection to the same World.

That said, there are some features players will have immediate control over. This includes the option to disable taxation and sandstorms, and even security zones to make your private server an open PvP server. Naturally, players will be able to name their individual servers, and create passwords.
Leading up to release, Funcom shared the pre-release times for Dune: Awakening, and when the release of the game is expected to roll out across all regions.
