Final Fantasy 14’s latest content mini-update is here, with patch 7.21 bringing the new multiplayer Cosmic Exploration mode for crafters and gatherers.
Cosmic Exploration is more akin to the Diadem than Island Sanctuary (and, mind you, the crafter/gatherer phases of the Diadem, not the old combat stuff). Players join instances en masse for not just farming and crafting, but also for big multiplayer mini-games that offer rewards. There’s “casual” content for those who like fun, but there are also higher-level crafts for those looking for something challenging.
The patch also brings those rewards that can be used throughout the whole game. Finally, we see neon paints—but of course, they’re rewards for participating in Cosmic Exploration—as well as other outfits, a minion, and more.
Cosmic Exploration can be accessed via Old Sharlayan; players will need to have completed the Endwalker expansion (and title quest), then to talk to Namingway as at least a level 10 Crafter or Gatherer. More details about Cosmic Exploration are explained in the Lodestone patch notes for 7.21.
Plus, there are the usual small fixes and changes, including, supposedly, increasing the contrast of certain visually-frustrating marks in the 7.2X Recollection trial and its Extreme version. There’s more to come, too, when 7.25 releases sometime in May.
