Camelot Unchained has a new lighting system and additional improvements as shown off in a new video of the big Camelot Hills zone the team released.
The video followed a brief return to streaming by Mark Jacobs, who talked about the changes they had worked on, acknowledging the impact of “horrible” layoffs at the studio amid the work to deliver what we’re seeing now. These big changes and improvements were in the works when that happened and many of those let go were already playing a significant part in these updates and overhauls.
Camelot Hills is a big zone, and it’s certainly one way to make an impression. Jacobs says that when they create a Zone they usually measure about 4 km, but Camelot Hills is over 70km and most of it is walkable. We can see from the video that it’s packed with terrain to traverse and things to discover. And, of course, to gather with others to make strategic plans. Or maybe to take up some fishing.
Jacobs prepared us all for this recently with a post saying that there were big reworks and changes coming to Camelot Unchained that we would see soon, and here we are.
They’ve been working on in service to the team’s goals of these overhauls and releasing more content in a reasonable timeframe. It’s fair to have some skepticism, but perhaps this reinvigorates interest in Camelot Unchained and its future.
