FFXIV’S Housing Demolition Timers Set To Resume After Extensive Pauses For Hurricane Helene, LA Wildfires

Automatic housing demolition timers for Final Fantasy 14’s player-owned estates are set to restart in early June, according to a new post on the Lodestone.
The countdown for automatic demolitions will resume on Friday, June 6 at 1:00 a.m. PDT.

This pause of housing demolitions for FFXIV’s North American servers was essentially re-extended in mid-January for the Los Angeles wildfires that devastated thousands of homes. Before this, another emergency demolition timer pause for Hurricane Helene, which devastated Florida and other US southeastern regions, was originally lifted for just over 40 hours.
This means, pending a lack of another disaster, it’s likely that almost no FFXIV houses on North American servers have been automatically demolished since October 2, 2024, totalling over eight months.
How it works is that normally, a FFXIV house will be demolished 45 days after a player last entered it. However, when the demolition timer is paused, it “pauses” that “countdown,” and the countdown continues upon the lift date and time. Therefore, on June 6 at 1:00 a.m. PDT, if you had 24 hours on your demolition timer, you have until June 7 at the same time. Still, this can be reset to 45 days simply by re-entering your own estate.
This doesn’t apply to apartments, which are maintained until a character is deleted.
