Sea of Thieves Season 16 is here, and with it, Captain Flameheart’s return as he leads and expands The Reaper’s Bones, new Voyages (for the Reaper’s Bones!), secrets, skeletal lost pirates, and much more. Today also marks Sea of Thieves’ launch on battle.net, following a beta and head start.
While Captain Flameheart returned in physical form a while ago, this season showcases him back at full strength, leading and growing the reach of The Reaper’s Bones. With this, new Voyages for The Reaper’s Bones become available for the first time. Whenever you accept one of these, you will fly a Reaper’s Mark flag which reveals your ship’s location to all nearby crews and make you a pretty sweet target. The risk might be rewarding enough though.
In the first, Search for Ancient Secrets, work with the skeletal pirates of the Order of Bone and Blade to discover those secrets. Members of this order will also be around on islands and They’ll help you on the islands they are bound to.
The Reaper’s Bones also extend their influence up to a new weapon, the Cannon of Rage. You’ll be able to fire cannonballs from almost anywhere, but you’ll have to keep it from overheating unless you want it to blow up and sink your ship.
This season is, once again, set for staggered new content releases. This first update sets the stage, But in subsequent updates we’ll get another new Voyage, breakable seals on Reaper’s Chests, and even potential to unlock loyal skeleton crews as allies.
Season 16 also includes Renown and rewards to earn, new cosmetics, and more.
