Indie MMO Spotlight: Monthly Updates and Demos Top the List

Each week, we scour the internet for all things indie MMO-related, so you don’t have to. This week, Embers Adrift released its monthly update, BitCraft released a demo, and Erenshor achieved a Steam review rating of Overwhelmingly Positive. Plenty of other stuff is also going on, so let’s quit wasting time and get started with this week’s Indie MMO Spotlight.

Aether Story
A new blog post titled “State of the Game Spring 2025” dropped this week. There is a renewed effort to push the game forward, rather than just creating cool things, with a focus on making Aether Story an MMO-first experience instead of a blend of JRPG and MMO elements, expanding the world, and more.
BitCraft
A new Preview Test/Demo began on May 29th and runs through June 16th. Anyone interested in checking out BitCraft before it goes into Early Access can download the demo on Steam. Character progression will be capped at level 10, and all progress from the demo will be wiped.
City of Heroes Homecoming
Issue 28: Legacy, Page 2 is now in Open Beta. New features include the Kallisti Wharf Zone, a new enemy group: Blackwing Industries, a new Control Powerset: Pyrotechnic Control, and a new Armor Powerset: Psionic Armor.
Embers Adrift
The May 2025 patch was released this week. The patch includes numerous fixes and improvements, including an upgrade to Unity 6 and enhancements to NPC Ability Execution Visibility.
Erenshor
A new mod has added an unofficial co-op mode to Erenshor. The MMORPG simulator now has over 30K sales ,with recent Steam reviews being Overwhelmingly Positive.

Fractured Online
This week’s dev update includes discussion of updating the first biome style, a new character management system, and a Q&A session.

The Quinfall
The Quinfall has made some significant improvements to Clans in its recent update, and Clan Wars have started! Clans also have a new quest system as well as passive and active skills.
Reign of Guilds
Update 0.95.363 is now live. The update includes the T2 County: Unsund, an overhaul of the damage formula, and other changes.
