Lord of the Rings Developer Letter Outlines Much Of What’s To Come In 2025

With Lord of the Rings Online looking like it might last a whole Age, its players can expect plenty in 2025, according to the latest “A Letter from Orion” post by the famed Lead Systems Designer.
Update 44 looks to drop new content with new story quests and missions, as well as a six-player instance. However, the previously-announced raid for Update 44 has been scratched, as the one in the last update took more resources than expected; the next one will come in the upcoming expansion. It’ll also add the Favoured Standing Reputation for all VIPs that allows cross-character reputation progression.

There’ll be a massive refresh on the Kinship system, starting with modernizing how the data is stored and managed. While the discussion is speculative for now, the team wants to bring the system “up to modern standards to allow advancement, deeds, calendars, management of information and filtering tools, banks, kinship traits, boons, and so much more,” especially as the system is “older than the game” with only a few updates.
The team is also promising more festivals and events, especially the Anniversary coming with Update 44, and Midsummer Festival will be getting an upgrade with a new festival island, too.
There’s a bigger 2025 development roadmap included as well:

This post doesn’t get back into anything in regards to the 64-bit server launch and transfers, which have been a lengthy and bumpy process, but given servers are okay enough to open housing, and they’re already in the works to get more open, the content teams are at least hoping to chug along.
The full Letter from Orion has a few more mentions of content to come as well.
