After a slight delay, on April 17th, Last Epoch will release the Tomb of the Erased update. The team has been revealing more of what’s coming, now previewing the big Sentinel rework and the introduction of the new Heartseeker skill and mechanics.
Season 2 will feature a complete overhaul of the Sentinel class, anchored on a rework of Volatile Reversal. For a very overused skill, mostly for the global buffs, Many felt like they needed to have it but didn’t find it very fun. In deciding to rework the skill, they are giving it completely new mechanics and a whole new skill tree. Instead of being just a supporting spell it’s now going to be a melee traversal combo skill in two parts that gives you a lot of control on what you do with it and how it suits your preferred build.
In a new preview, Eleventh Hour Games explains all of this and then goes into the full skill tree that will accompany Volatile Reversal. “Volatile Reversal allows you to teleport into enemies, landing an area melee attack and allowing for further follow-up before re-activating and teleporting back in time to your original location,” they detail. However, you don’t have to reactivate it and you can stay at the location you landed at if you want. This opens up new options to aggressively engaged or to retreat, and lots more. Pair that with all the new skills and you’ll uncover a number of ways to specialize.
Heartseeker is designed to offer a single-target, high damage option for the Marksman. With this skill is a brand new mechanic, Recurve Chance, which means you can launch a projectile that can recurve and hit your targets for additional damage. You start with 100% chance and it goes up. This skill also comes with its own deep skill tree that takes advantage of this mechanic.
