Nintendo Announces New Switch 2 Preorder Date for US & Canada, Console Price Remains the Same

If you’ve been wanting to preorder a Nintendo Switch 2 in the US or Canada, now we know when you’ll be able to do that. The price for the console will also be unchanged.

Preorders were initially set to happen on April 9th, but the company announced several days earlier that it would be delaying the US preorder date, and later, delayed  the Canadian one. This was in response to the Trump administration’s announced series of tariffs and “evolving market concerns”.
In both countries, pre-orders will happen on April 24th. With those tariffs generally on hold right now, the launch price will remain at $449.99 US/$629.99 CAD and the price of announced launch titles Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza will also be at their previously confirmed prices. The future of those tariffs is still yet to be decided, but we can have the Nintendo Switch 2 in our homes on June 5th.
One thing that Nintendo did announce is that Switch 2 accessories will have some price changes due to “market conditions” and  in their press release, they included a number of accessories and their updated prices as of April 18th.
There are more details in the Nintendo and Nintendo Canada press releases.
