Embers Adrift is Now on Steam, Stormhaven Details the Soft Launch and What’s Next

Embers Adrift’s soft launch on Steam is now live. Stormhaven Studios has info on the release, the goals of having a soft launch, and how to get started if you’re a current or past player.

The soft launch allows for a transition period of a week or two to let everyone who has to redeem Steam keys and link their accounts time to do so. The time is also for the team to work out any issue that might pop up during this time.
Embers Adrift remains buy to play with an optional subscription. Those who have purchased the game can claim Steam keys and learn how to get set up. If you played while everything was free, you’ll need to buy the game on Steam to continue.  Everyone buying the game or redeeming a Steam key will get two weeks of subscription time to ease the overall transition. Logins and updates will be solely through Steam at the end of that period.
Previously, the team stated that they wanted to get things sorted with a Steam soft launch to move players over and to make sure payments and everything else works before they  begin a new marketing push.
With this launch, there’s also a new update that fixes a few issues and adds resource node nameplates for easier collection. These will appear to mark resources that correspond to your character’s gathering professions. Future updates will come via Steam and they have two major goals for what’s next: Grizzled Peaks II and a Unity 6 upgrade.
