Dune: Awakening Details More About This Weekend’s Big Beta

Dune: Awakening’s big beta test starts on Friday, and Funcom has revealed more details about what the test will include.

When the team initially announced the large-scale beta test, which runs from May 9th to 12th, they announced that it would include the first 20 hours of gameplay and Act 1 of the story.  That’s a lot of content, but it’s also kind of vague, so the team has come through with more details  and descriptions.
The beta looks so big and it lasts for just three days, so the majority probably aren’t getting through all of even most of this, but it will be there for those who want it. The beta content represents the early to early mid-game, from crafting to combat, along with story content.

You’ll get to use the CHOAM  building set and start getting used to the building and crafting elements. The Hagga Basin South and Eastern and Western Vermilius Gap regions will be open. You’ll also get to assemble your first sandbike and get to travel around the desert planet a little faster, making the most of the available terrain.
The team also gave us a peek at what’s coming at launch on June 10th, including nine more regions along with the Overland map, the Arrakeen and Harko village hubs, and the full story. Advanced crafting like ornithopters and buggies will make that travel around the desert even faster.
You can request Dune: Awakening beta access on Steam.
