Prioritizing a Fix for Missing Items Bug, LOTRO Team Delays 64-bit Server Sting’s Opening Again

The Lord of the Rings Online’s next 64-bit server, US-based Sting, won’t be opening today after all. Standing Stone Games has updated the community on what’s going on and a tentative new release window.

Recently, housing escrow items were getting lost when some players sold personal or kinship houses. Before going ahead and opening up a new 64-bit server, this takes priority and they’re working on a fix that will stop the issue from happening as well as returning items that went missing due to this issue.
In addition to refining the fix and testing it on Bullroarer,  there’s one big caveat. if you are affected and they deploy the fix, you’ll have to log into your current game world before you transfer. Otherwise your items won’t be associated with your account. So, opening up a new server for people to transfer to doesn’t make sense while they’re working on such a big issue.
Sting is now set to open “no earlier than May 21st” and they will update on that launch, and future transfers, after making progress on fixing the housing escrow issue. In their update, they also give advice on preparing for transfer and how you can help keep your items safe.
Given all of the recent issues with 64-bit server transfers, isn’t a surprise that they’re approaching this with care.
