Ember Sword Ends Development, Bright Star ‘Explored Every Possible Way Forward’

Bright Star Studios has ended development on Ember Sword, their blockchain sandbox MMORPG that entered Early Access back in December.

In a statement posted to the game’s website, the team says that “Despite strong early support, promising Early Access player stats, and a passionate community, we were ultimately unable to secure the funding needed to continue. We explored every possible way forward. But in today’s market–where even some of the most promising projects are shutting down–we couldn’t find a path to keep building”.
The team decided to skip their second beta and open Early Access, following layoffs too common in the industry. When Steven jumped into the Early Access build, he found that there was plenty that was serviceable and worked, but a number of other things were half-baked.
At the time, they also acknowledged that there was a lot more content they had planned and the decision to enter Early Access was done in large part because they wanted to grow the game, and to serve as a demonstration to back up their attempts to secure more funding.
It seems now that that did not work out as hoped. With the closure, the servers are shutting down, and the Discord channels will be closed to avoid any potential scams.
