The next in major content expansions for EVE Online is live, and this one features a system that players have been wondering about for a long time. Announced at Fanfest earlier this month, Legion brings the hotly-anticipated Freelancer system to the universe, as well two massive new battle ships and new updates that streamline the alliance and corporate experience.
As previewed at Fanfest, the freelancer system has been one of the more highly anticipated systems by a lot of fans. It’s exactly what it sounds like, allowing independent capsuleers to take up player-made missions on behalf of larger corporations, creating a mutually beneficial system for corps and players test-driving the corps. Included with the system are also recruitment tools for those corporations, should they spot any promising capsuleers—and shortening the recruitment path, which was otherwise a fraught and indirect system.

For those looking to continue space conquests, those systems have been improved to make it smoother. Conquering corporations have a more streamlined skyhook capture system, and sovereign systems have a nifty new set of upgrades. These corps can have a cohesive look, too, thanks to the Corporation Palette.
The update also launches two new dreadnaughts available to players: the intimidating Barbaroga, a Triglavian vessel, and the Angel Cartel Sarathiel that can zoom the hell off during siege mode. Plus, there massive battle balances made to capital ships and cruisers, which CCP claims is in collaboration with the player-populated Council of Stellar Management.
The full patch notes are up on the site now, and features all the other changes and additions to the game.
